Files for GIS users:
- A geo-registered polygon shapefile of the Reserve’s boundaries is available here.
This file was created by hand-digitizing a scanned topographic map, which in turn was geo-registered from it’s printed corner coordinates. Spatial accuracy is unknown. This should only be used for rough spatial context, not for accurate analysis or overlay.
- A .kml format version of the above file is available here.
-
A geo-registered .png version of the scanned topographic map is being developed but is not yet available. (A non-geo-registered version is available here.)
- Many Landsat satellite images encompassing Los Cedros are available for free download at the Global Land Cover Facility but have not been assessed for cloud cover.
To find the Los Cedros images at the GLCF, click through to their ESDI search interface, choose “Path/Row Search” and enter path 10 and row 60.
- The US Geological Service provides access to SRTM digital elevation and other data encompassing Los Cedros through their data download site.
ArcGIS and other standard GIS software should be able to load the above files. Please contact the author if you encounter any problems.
